We invited renowned Melbourne photographer Sarah Pannell on site to capture the scale and progress of one of Melbourne's most significant cultural infrastructure projects.

Massive temporary beams support the walls as excavation is done behind the Theatres Building, Arts Centre Melbourne.
Piling on the site of the new gallery The Fox: NGV Contemporary.
Services have been relocated above ground to allow for excavation works, and will be put back underground as part of future works.
A large concrete deck will form the foundation of the future 18,0000 sqm urban garden, Laak Boorndap.
The expansion of the Theatres Building basement will make way for new and expanded facilities, increasing Art Centre Melbourne’s capacity to present world-class performances.
Despite the major works underway, performances at Arts Centre Melbourne continue – the show must go on!
Excavators, diggers and cranes of all sizes are being used to do works in a very confined area.
