What are you looking for?
We’re looking for ambitious and creative ideas that are responsive to the garden and that tell stories of Birrarung, and that are appropriate for integration into a water feature. The primary commission opportunity is for designs that can be embedded into the material form of the waterway but we’re open to exploring additional opportunities with the successful artist.
Can I submit an idea or concept I’ve used before?
No. This opportunity is for original works that respond to the curatorial vision and themes.
What do I need to include when I submit?
Please submit your application through our portal here.
Details on what needs to be submitted can be found in the EOI brief.
If you require any assistance or alternatives to the application format, please reach out to us here: [email protected]
What happens after I submit my application? When will I hear from you?
The closing date for submissions is 3pm AEDT 24 October 2024. After this, there is a period of review by the selection panel members with endorsement of the selected artist by the MAP Co Public Art Working Group. Artists will be updated on the outcome of their submission by the end of the year.
Will you provide feedback on my submission?
Unfortunately we will not be able to provide feedback if you are not selected for this opportunity.
How much will I be paid if I get selected?
The artist selected to proceed into Developed Design will be paid a fee of $35,000 (excl. GST). Additional artist fees for the Construction Drawing, Fabrication and Installation stages will be negotiated with the selected artist.
What support will MAP Co provide during the commissioning process?
MAP Co will work closely with the selected artist and the Hassell design team to achieve the artist’s vision for the artwork. The support provided largely depends on the concept and will be negotiated between MAP Co and relevant parties as part of the commission contracting process.
